Correction Slips: Corrections and Revisions Log
Updated
This page is the corrections log for Genre Fiction Lineage. Every correction of a fact and every substantive revision to an entry is listed here by date, with a link to the page that changed.
Current log
No corrections or substantive revisions have been logged as of 3 November 2026.
How a correction is recorded
A correction slip is added when a year, venue, edition, attribution, quotation, source or map position on the site turns out to be wrong, or when an entry is revised in a way that changes what it says. Fixing a typing error or a broken layout does not count as a substantive revision and is not logged.
Each slip is one item in the log above, newest first. It gives the date of the change in year-month-day form, links to the entry, states what the text said before and what it says now, and names the source the correction rests on. Written out, a slip follows this pattern: date · entry · Correction: the text gave [old wording]; it now reads [new wording] (source: [source]).
The same slip, with the same date, is added to the corrections note at the foot of the entry itself.
What changes with a correction
A corrected claim is changed everywhere it appears on the site, on the same day:
- the short answer at the top of the entry and the summary shown in search results and on shared links;
- the edition card;
- the lineage strip and any other chart built from the same data;
- tables in the text and the downloadable CSV file, with the note published beside it;
- any other entry or page on the site that repeats the claim.
The revision date shown in the entry’s Cite this page block moves to the date of the correction, so a citation records which version was read.
What is never done
Entries are not changed silently. Slips are never deleted, reordered or rewritten after they are posted; if a correction itself turns out to be wrong, a new slip records the second change and the first stays in place.
Errors can be reported through the letterbox. The rules that entries are checked against are on the cataloguing rules page.
