This policy explains what Genre Fiction Lineage records when you read its pages, and what it does not. The site has no accounts, no sign-up, no comment section, no newsletter and no forms. It shows no advertising.
Google Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits. When it runs, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies in your browser and collects information such as the pages viewed, how a visit arrived (for example, from a search engine or another site), approximate location, device and browser type, and interactions such as scrolling, clicks on outbound links and file downloads.
The data is kept for 14 months. Google signals and the account’s data-sharing settings are turned off.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, or your location cannot be determined, Google Analytics is not loaded at all until you choose to accept it in the notice shown on your first visit. Before that choice nothing is sent to Google and no analytics cookie is written. If you decline, Google Analytics is never loaded in that browser. If you accept, it loads with advertising storage, advertising user data and ad personalization all declared as refused.
Elsewhere, Google Analytics loads with the page.
To decide which applies, the page asks its hosting network which country your connection comes from; that answer is used for the decision only and is not stored. You can change your choice at any time with the privacy choices link at the foot of every page. Declining there turns Google Analytics off for that browser from then on.
How Google uses information from sites that use its services is explained at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
The site is served through Cloudflare, which adds its Web Analytics script to every page. It counts page views and measures how quickly pages load, so that the site can see real loading speed and tell human visits from crawler traffic. It sets no cookies and uses no browser storage, and Cloudflare states that it does not fingerprint visitors.
Cloudflare Web Analytics runs for every visitor in every region, and the consent notice above does not control it. You can block it with a content blocker by blocking the domain static.cloudflareinsights.com. Cloudflare’s own policy is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Requests from mainland China and Russia are blocked at the network level and do not reach the site.
What is stored in your browser
The site keeps a small number of settings in your browser’s local storage, on your own device:
- Your choice about Google Analytics, under the key
stats-pref-a3d0, with the valuegrantedordenied. - If you use the light and dark display switch, your choice is also stored in this browser.
Clearing your browser’s site data removes these settings, and the consent notice will appear again where it applies.
Site search
The site search works inside your browser: matching happens on your own device, and what you type is not sent to the site or to anyone else.
Fonts, embeds and other trackers
All fonts are served from the site itself. There are no social media buttons, embedded videos or third-party comment systems, and no tracking code beyond the two services above.
If you write to contact@genrefictionlineage.com, your message and address are used only to deal with what you wrote about. They are not added to any list and are not shared.
